The Naperville Police and Fire Departments invite all residents to attend the annual Public
Safety Open House taking place from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, October 3 at Naperville’s Public Safety Campus, located at 1380 Aurora Ave.
Bring the whole family for this fun and informative day, which features a variety of activities and demonstrations by Naperville’s finest. Attendees can view a police K9 demonstration at 10:45 a.m., followed at 11:15 a.m. by a training exercise in which the Air Methods helicopter lands and emergency personnel perform an auto extrication with a simulated intoxicated driver arrest.
New this year is the Naperville Police Department Special Response Team’s tactical demonstration showcasing the talents of the unit at 12:30 p.m. Firefighters will demonstrate just how quickly a fire spreads with a flashover demonstration at 1:15 p.m., after which children will be given the opportunity to squirt real fire hoses. The demonstrations culminate at 2:00 p.m. with the crowd-pleasing, high-energy firefighter and police gear uniform show.
During this event, participants will also have the chance to view and interact with police and fire equipment and vehicles, take home fire and crime prevention information and meet Sparky the Fire Dog and McGruff the Crime Dog. The Open House will also feature annual favorites such as the children’s identification fingerprinting station, fire extinguisher training and a forensics booth.
