Chicagoland Rotary Veterans Coat Drive / Stand Down Day Tuesday, November 10

From a Rotary Club Press Release:

Our goal is to collect and district 1,000 winter coats to Homeless Veterans in the Chicago area.

Stand Down Day is a special day for homeless veterans in which they receive support from many

This will be Rotary’s fourth year participating in the event that has been held and organized for the past 22 years by the veterans.  We expect to serve approximately 1,000 homeless veterans on November 10 as they gear up for the harsh winter months ahead.   If you have not been to a Stand Down Day, we set up the coats on clothing racks organized by size and assist the veterans in selecting a coat and helping them try them on.   The veterans then get winter clothing, social service support for housing and food, haircuts, and a warm meal.  As this year’s Stand Down Day is a day before Veterans Day, we will also be assisting in serving the meals to our veterans.

How Can YOU Help serve our veterans as they have served us?

Clean and Gently Used Men’s Winter Coats in sizes L, XL, XXL , XXXL

The coats are needed in the larger sizes as the veterans layer their clothing for the winter.  We will also accept Men’s winter hats and gloves.   We are not accepting women clothing as we have enough female winter coats already.
